Originally written back in June:

Banks4 for Evo2

This originally started as a spark of an idea when NKA Ulimate asked me how to make smoothly banked curves. I reffered Ult to Phineus's excellent tutorial at the MTMG about making smooth altitude transitions using Traxx for MTM2. All the principles apply and it's well worth reading. http://karf.net/mtmg/traxx/altitude.html

The enquiry prompted me to make something that could be SEEN in action, so this track was born. As with most of my tracks, it was an experiment, but hopefully there is a lot of stuff that can be recycled and included in your own tracks.
Around the sides of the map are 4 varying degrees of banking. One of each steepness for North, East, South & West.
The idea being that track makers can use the Banks4.raw as a base terrain/altitude file and build on it from there.
There are 2 ways to do this:
1. Just clone Banks4 and make your changes.
2. Import the altitude file into your own track and work from there.
The way to do this is (once you have Banks4 Podded - or at least extracted the necessary files to your 4x4Evo2 folder) when in Altitude Editor, press trl+A and choose Banks4 from your data folder.
You can just flatten the track section of the map to make your own and cut and paste ramps/banks or sections thereof to suit your track.
Base altitude for this particular map is at 100 feet... but there's nothing to stop you raising or lowering a grid selection to get the exact 'selection' of banking you need to suit your own track. Also you can set the Min and Max Altitude to make variations in the degree of steepness.

At 100 feet the variations in "steepness" are:
1. Rises One foot per grid square
2. Rises One and a half feet per grid square
3. Rises two feet per grid square
4. Rises two and a half feet per grid square

The actual track layout in this case is an extended variation of TRI's Motocross.

Don't forget to look at the off track stuff (including the world's biggest Half Pipe). Ramps, roads and bridges for you to try out and see what works in your own tracks.

Update 8/11/02 (that's August 11th 2002 for my fellow-Europeans)

More ideas added, and models.

Credits:

All textures and models are mine unless they are TRI's :)

Thanks to my NKA teammates and others who tried this track out in it's earlier stages.

Thanks to all who contribute to KC's forums and share their knowledge

Update: 8/18/02

I've added a bonus track, Bank4 Reversed.

I'd reccommend using Leo's ProtrucksMTM trucks for this track. It's a blast with them!
I test ran for the most part using the Arb MT - it's a pretty challenging track in an unmodfied MT. With a good modified truck you can clear most of the bridges but landing has to be precise. This track will work with any class of truck.

Feel free to use any of my textures or models in your own tracks - a credit will be appreciated ;)
